I'm sitting still and yet I'm moving at a speed
That leaves the most determined athlete behind.
Outside the world is quiet and cold.
Inside the world is loud and warm.
As I drive through the sleeping town
There is a peace to be found.
A Presence to seek out
At only such a time.

As I drive by I catch a glimpse of Him who hides
In the swirling mist blowing by.
My head is filled with the song of another
But my heart sings its own melody
Using words that have been locked up and saved for this moment;
Sometimes a prayer, sometimes a tear,
And other times a voice lifted up with the words
Blaring on through the darkness.

I'm sitting still with freedom at my finger tips.
Letting go, speeding away from what's behind.
I can't look back, or I might miss what's ahead.
My eyes in constant movement, as if in a dance of their own.
They catch the first rays of the sun
And my heart begins to sigh.
Another day has come.

I'm sitting still, and I'm afraid to move on.
To get out in the cold and face the unknown.
The radio is off, but the music is still in my mind.
The only thing that can comfort me now
Is knowing I'll be back at the end of the day
Sitting still with God.
