Yes it’s true my friends, fall has come and gone. The basketball team is psyched for another season to prove their stuff on the court.

They’ve already begun to dig into their cherry pie full of competition and excitement. So far they have laid some woop on Emery, an away game with a score of 57-45. Last Friday they pummeled the Buffaloes at Tooele in over time. They even pulled it off with the gym packed with screaming opposing fans, with only their parents there to support them, with a score of 69-58.

On Saturday they played Grantsville at home. By the end of the half it was neck to neck, 26-26. The Cowboys led by a puny point, 38-37 at the end of the third. But that didn't damper their spirits. They battled back and came out on top with a score of 57-51. The J.V. also won their game. On the other hand, the Sophomores and Freshmen didn't pull it out.

This year there will be 14 Varsity and 14 J.V. teams attending. Last year the boys took the tourney. Mr. Ross is excited for it. He stated, "We've won all three games the last couple of years, so we're hoping for the best although we're going up against some tough teams."

As of right now, the boys are ranked 7th in state and have a strong 1st place position in region, with a record of 3-0. Coach Ross enthusiastically explained that, "Our teams goal is to finish 1st or 2nd in region so we can host the playoffs."

For the last three games, (not counting Flaming Gorge) the top three scorers are: Braxton Duncan-34 points, David Gilbert-30 points, and Nathan Dye-29 points. Tomorrow the J.V., Sophomores, and Freshmen will play Altamont here, starting at 3:30.

They have two home games before Christmas Break, the 21st and 22nd against Kearns and Ben Lomond. They also have two games during Christmas Break against Carbon and Payson, the 29th and 30th. These three games are all home games. So take a break from your studying, sleeping, or TV session and come down and get your blood a pumping at the boys basketball game.

Taking a look at other teams in our region: Wasatch got smashed by American Fork, 66-39 and Park City got embarrased with a big lose to Bear River, 77-41. Uintah lost to Delta, 65-58.

Coach Ross hopes for the best for the rest of the season and has complete faith in his team.
