North Muskegon High School junior Dustin Cory is set to compete at the State Leadership Workplace Skills Competition. Cory was one of the 17 students participating in the Business Professionals of America (BPA) Workplace Skills Competition for Region 1 on Saturday January 9, 2010. Cory placed second in the Web Page Design Team. He was one of the seven students that earned the right to advance to the State Leadership Workplace Skills Competition to be held at the Amway Grand Plaza Conference Center on March 18-21, 2010.

The BPA competitions require the students to complete a written exam and demonstrate their skills through hands-on activities. The categories the students competed in at the regional competition consisted of: accounting, computer security, PC servicing and troubleshooting, and web page design. Cory is currently enrolled in the Internet, Network & Security Technologies course at the Muskegon Area Career Tech Center (MACTC).

The BPA is a national co-curricular career and technical organization for middle school, high school, and college students that are preparing for business and information technology. BPA is one of the many extra-curricular organizations for career tech students offered by the MACTC. There are 196 students currently participating in Career Tech Student Organizations.
