Homecoming week is filled with fun dress up days, float building, and making memories. This year’s dress up days were Pajama Day, Jersey & Hat Day, Throwback day, and Twin Day. The theme for homecoming was candy. Class competitions were held on Tuesday night before coronation. The senior class had been in a rat race with the junior class the entire time. In the end, the senior class beat the junior class by only seconds. Student council members spiced things up a little when they chose to have a teacher kiss a pig, instead of having teacher sundaes. Mr. Wood, Mrs. Hansen, Ms. Holter, & Mrs. Meland were the four teachers that were candidates to kiss the pig. Every lunch period of homecoming week, students would put money into a teacher's money jar. At the end of the weekend, the teacher with the most money would have to kiss a pig. Mrs. Hansen was the lucky winner to kiss the pig for seven seconds.
Friday was when the real fun started! Homecoming Fridays are always stressful, when all the classes are hustling to get the finishing touches onto their homecoming floats. While the busy students were helping with their class floats; FBLA was selling orange juliuses and baked goods. Luckily, this year there was no rain just a little breeze, which was nice. The parade started with the Grand Marshal, Mr. Frank Konda along with his wife, whom was chosen by the student council. There were many floats that were involved with the parade.
By the time 7 p.m rolled around the corner, the air was cold and the game was starting. This homecoming we played the Webster Bearcats. We took the lead in the 1st quarter and kept it that way. We ended that game in the 3rd quarter, with the score of 61-6. The boys played a great game, and kept it together. What an end to the 2010 homecoming festivities.
