Sisseton hosted the All-Star game on Saturday, March 26, 2011. Various seniors throughout the Northeast part of South Dakota participated in this exciting event. For most of these players this will be the final game of their high school career. The All-Star game is sponsored by Pheasant Country 102.9. The night began with the introduction of the Girls’ All-Star team, the presentation of the flags, and National Anthem sang by Shayna Ebben. After that the Girls’ 3-point contest took place and Breanna Bucklin from Class A and Justine Butler from Class B took home the titles. The girls’ basketball game was underway and it was neck and neck. Class A pulled through towards the end however, and won 45-36. The MVP for this game was Amber Huntington. The same process was followed as the boys entered the gym. The 3-point contest was won by Wade Youngblom for Class A and Brandon Wik from Class B. However, the boys had a special addition to the program, the slam dunk contest, Mason Farber from Britton-Hecla won the slam dunk contest by quite a few points. The boys’ game was even more neck and neck than the girls. The Class B team was up for a while then it was Class A but in the end, Class A pulled ahead and won by two points, 84-82. The MVP for the boys’ game was Tanner Lux from Webster. For everyone of these students this was the last high school sponsored basketball they will play in. They are preparing for college and have busy lives ahead of themselves. On behalf of the Sisseton High School Journalism class I would like to congradulate these players and wish them good luck in the future.
