This 2011 season for the Denver Broncos has been quite
different than usual. Being the underdogs of the AFC, the Broncos had a rough
start with previous quarterback Kyle Orton, who brought the Broncos to a 1-3
record for the first 4 games. The team decided to get rid of Kyle Orton and
move up the second string, Tim Tebow. With Tim Tebow as starter, the Broncos
gained a lot more strength as a team and played much better. Tim is an
excellent leader and is very determined to win.
After Kyle
Orton was let go, hope for the Broncos making the playoffs was almost gone.
Then, Tebow was placed as starter QB and brought high faith into the team. His
vision on the field is outstanding and his ability to run like a half back is
impressive. He usually doesn’t play too good until around the 2nd
half when Tebow Magic kicks in and he has a series of completions and
touchdowns, usually bringing the team ahead of their opponent and gaining a
win. The Broncos had a 7-3 record with Tim Tebow as quarterback. All seven of
those wins had 4th quarter come-backs.
“I hope Tebow makes it to the
Super Bowl, he’s a good runner.” –Tanner Westimayer
We all know
that Tebow is a Christian and shows it in between each play. People may think
that is not necessary, but that is Tim’s lifestyle and tradition. It gets him
through the game and helps him keep a strong mind throughout the season. You
can either ignore Tim’s praises or encourage it.
With Tebow
as quarterback, the Broncos finished their season with an 8-8 record. That is
not too good, but for a team that switched quarterbacks mid-season, it’s the
best they could do. With this record, the Broncos made it into the Wild Card
playoffs where they played a close game against the Steelers. The game went
into over-time with the score as 23-23. The Broncos won the coin toss and
choose to receive the ball. First pass of the over-time quarter, Tim Tebow
throws a 20 yard pass to Demaryius Thomas where he breaks two tackles and out
runs the rest of the team for a touchdown! The Broncos won their first play-off
game 29-23. Their next game will be against the New England Patriots, a team
that dominated the Broncos in a regular season game 3 weeks ago. It has been
Tebow Time for a while now, and hopefully it stays Tebow Time.
