The Rolling Stones, ACDC, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Fall Out Boy. These are just a few of the most popular rock bands. Rock music emerged in the 1940’s with a bang. Led Zepplin was one of the most popular bands of the 70’s and helped kick-start heavy metal or hard rock. In the late 70’s, punk music emerged from bands like Pink Floyd and The Clash. Rock music died down a bit in the 80’s but reemerged with a vengeance thanks to bands like Nirvana, Limp Bizkit, and Puddle of Mud. Some of the most popular bands right now are Linkin Park, Foo Fighters, and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Some of the favorites that we have gathered from students here at Higley are Three Days Grace, Paramore, Escape the Fate, My Chemical Romance, Skillet, and Bullet for My Valentine. One student said that the reason they liked rock was because it is an expression of emotion that other music doesn’t show. Others say that they like the screams and the raspy voices that the singers have because they feel like they show emotion. Most students mentioned the “freakin’ sweet guitar solos” If you would like to have your mind blown by some of these songs you can check out X 103.9, Real Rock 97.9, or you could check out 89.9 Air one for some Christian rock. Below are some of the most popular rock songs right now.

2. Tighten Up by The Black Keys

Need some new music? My Chemical Romance has a new album coming out this month. The new album is called Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys and it has awesome new songs like Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na), SING, The Only Hope for Me is You, and Death Before Disco. This album is coming out on November 22, 2010. An album available right now - release last summer on June 8 - is the Eclipse from the Twilight Saga’s Soundtrack. This soundtrack went double platinum and includes songs like Neutron Star Collision (Love is Forever) by Muse, Eclipse (All Yours) by Metric, and Heavy in Your Arms by Florence and the Machine. Three Days Grace also has a very popular album out called Life Starts Now. It's been out for awhile now, but they are still releasing very popular singles from this album. Some of those songs are Break, The Good Life, Bitter Taste, and World So Cold.
