Hardin Valley and Farragut sure do have the makings of a heated rivalry. Thursday night, Farragut’s gym was packed with spectators from both sides. Farragut dominated Hardin Valley in the end 72-55, led by junior Bake Williams who had 23 points and five assists. The outcome was never in doubt as Farragut never trailed. Taylor Diegel and Reed Haugh both scored 13 points. Senior Will Park came close to a double double with nine points and eight rebounds. The Admirals won big despite poor three point shooting at only 20 percent. However, they shot 56 percent from two and 72 percent from the line helping them to wrap the game up.
Coach Cool wanted to break the old record of 800 students at a game. Although they did not come close with only about 250 students in attendance, the crowd was as raucous as if there were four times that number. Hardin Valley showed up with a large road attendance of about a hundred students. Farragut students chanted all night, taunting Hardin Valley fans. This game was clearly important to both schools.
Farragut advances to a 5-2 record and will play at Lenoir City on December 7th. Lenoir City will be their first district game of the year. The Admirals will try to start the district schedule off strong by winning on the road at Lenoir City.
