Have you ever wished for a summer where you just sit around or party and still get paid? Au Pairs is the dream come true for three girls: Mara, Eliza, and Jacqui. The requirements are simple: take care of the kids and look pretty. Sounds simple enough…
Author Melissa de la Cruz takes you through the summer of a lifetime: parties and celebrities mixed in with swimming lessons and special diets. All this takes place in the Hamptons in New York. The Hamptons is the place to be if you are anybody. Mara Waters is from small town Massachusetts looking for a way to pay for a car and college. Eliza Thompson is a former ‘It Girl’ trying to get back into the crowd. Jacqui Velasco is chasing her love from Brazil to New York. Mara, Eliza, and Jacqui quickly fall into the drama of the place. They have to quickly learn how to balance parties, child care, romances, and hangovers.
Au Pairs is well written and a pleasure to read. It is a laid back book for a Saturday when there’s nothing else to do. De la Cruz describes the scenes in such a way that you are transported into the book and the story. Are you up to a night in New York or an afternoon on a beach? Enjoy Au Pairs.
