NHS members at COSI
 On Jan. 20, eighteen members of the National Honor Society went to Court Street Elementary School for COSI on Wheels.  The NHS members taught students about weather at a variety of stations.

Library orders books
 The school library is scheduled to receive many new books this year.
 “We mostly buy series books and brand new books,” librarian Terri Carter said, “but we buy many books that students suggest.”
 The library buys news books twice a year. Carter takes suggestions for books in the start of the school year and before the first of the year.

Miedema wins SAR essay contest
 Rixt Miedema won a local essay contest sponsored by the Sons of the American Revolution. Her essay will advance to the state level of competition. 
 Miedema said she spent a lot of time researching and writing her paper on Abigail Adams. When she won, she could not believe it.
 This is the second year English teacher Jason Wells has given the assignment, and both years a winner from his class was selected.

“Blacklist” shuts out students
 Students who have been in ISR or who have not paid their school fees yet have been placed on a denial list.
 With their name on the list, students willl not be allowed to go on field trips, participate in extracurricular activites, or attend school dances.
