Well TU students, sorry to burst your bubble but FAFSA unfortunately is NOT a type of food. FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. FAFSA is used to determine every student’s eligibility for all of the financial aid programs that the federal government has to offer. FAFSA is a government run program and it is a very important document to fill out because it determines if the government can give your family enough money for you to go to the college of your dreams.
That’s right ladies and gentlemen, free money that you never have to pay back. That's especially important as statistics point out that college graduates owe, on average, $28,000 dollars in student loan debt. FAFSA becomes available for seniors to fill out on January 1st. It is very important to file for FAFSA as soon as possible because the federal government only gives a certain amount of money out every year and it is a first come first serve process. To completely finish FAFSA you will need your parent’s tax returns number, but you can fill out FAFSA and then go back and update it later on.
A lot of seniors don’t know that many deadlines are coming up for FAFSA. Almost everyone planned to stay up on New Year’s Eve and complete FAFSA but how many of us actually did it. The chance of every senior in TU doing that is slim to none. As a fellow TU student who still didn’t complete her FAFSA I some advice for the underclassmen……FINISH YOUR FAFSA!
I’m not saying to wait up on New Year’s Eve to do it but I am saying to try to get it done the first week of January. The faster you hand in the FAFSA the faster you have the opportunity to get money to pay for College.
