Rushing waves of turquoise water,
A life of peace just over the border,
He watched as the world around him fell,
This has become a living hell.
The other side of the fence,
Was a life full of harmony,
Where people lived with dignity,
And nothing short of tranquility.
Genocide had swallowed his home land,
Robbing him of freedom,
Is this what the world has come to?
A living hell caused by your own neighbors.
Race, height, and body features,
Caused the war of a million deaths,
Is this what the world has come to?
A segregation.
He doesn’t know what to do,
But he knows he is the only one left in his family,
He hopes he makes it over that fence, But what can a man do with no defense?
