Everyone’s favorite time of year has come around again. Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the red nose reindeer, and Santa Clause all appear in our dreams. The Christmas tree is up and the lights are on, presents are being bought and wrapped up for the grand holiday!
Christmas represents something different to everyone. For some it’s all about the gifts and for some it’s about the gift of giving. It’s a day to get together with the family, or to argue like some.
Part of being with your family is having great Christmas traditions and being happy, unique, and funny! Somer Davis agreed that family is a big part of Christmas. “My favorite Christmas tradition is going to my grandmother’s on Christmas Eve!” she said.
Krystal McCarty said, ”I love watching my children open their gifts.”
Decorating gives everyone joy and gets them in the spirit of the holidays. Sophomore Stephanie Frederick said, “My favorite thing is putting up the Christmas tree and rocking around it!”
Being unique is something everyone desires. Davis will probably win the prize for most unique celebration. “This year I’ll probably have a baby on Christmas, but something I did do was cook for the homeless.” she said.
Several people have stories to tell about funny Christmas tricks that have been pulled on others. Davis said, “Once I wrapped up a bundle of sticks for my cousin as his present, it was really funny.”
But some funny moments are out of everyone’s control. “Once my dog ate all the cookies and coke we sat out for Santa!” said Frederick.
Not every funny moment is intentional. “Once I put everything together backwards. The toys and the boxes were completely wrong. Everyone laughed!” said McCarty.
Christmas Eve is just as important as the following day. It has many fun times and presents to go along with it. “I love going to my aunt’s house on Christmas Eve. It’s fun to watch everyone ‘try’ and do Karaoke,” said junior Joe Tucker.
It’s Christmas time that unites the family and warms our hearts. Enjoy your Christmas traditions and have a holly jolly time! Merry Christmas!
