In our world today, comics are only in the Sunday newspaper. When I tell people that my dad colors, draws, inks, and writes comics they are astonished.
“Really?!”
“Oh my gosh that is so cool!”
“I want to meet your dad!”
That’s just a few quotes I hear from kids when I tell them about my dad’s job.
Even though comics are not as popular as they use to be, at Comic-Con there are always huge crowds: Costume fanatics, gamers, action figure collectors, and people trying to get into the comic business.
Jim Lee is like the Michael Jordan of comics. He is the main artist for DC Comics. Lee originally worked for Marvel Comics drawing X-Men in 1987. Eventually Lee and other publishers started their own comic book company, Image Comics. They made this so they could create their own comics such as Gen13 and Wild C.A.T.s. Now Lee draws for DC Comics only, but he is not the only person who is talented at DC. JJ Kirby is another artist who draws, along with Oliver Nome, Carlos D’anda, and Michael Lopez. Sandra Hope is one of the inkers and Gabe El-Taeb is a colorist. They are the dream team; they are DC Comic book artists.
The comic world is a hard industry to get into. The DC comic book creators are an elite group of people who are very professional about what they do and are admired by many fans.
