Senior Lady Trojan golfer Emily Slifka has advanced to the Championship round of the WPIAL Tournament. Slifka did so by placing fifth at the qualifier held at Murrysville Golf Club on September 21. Her 94 came in one under teammate Sarah Kovac, knocking Kovac out of contention.

For Slifka it is the fruits of her hard work over the past four years. After signing up to play on the team as a freshman she found herself liking the game enough to attend a golf camp at Penn Stae University for a week the summer of her sophomore year as well as taking lessons in the off season.

Looking back she recalls having to tee the ball up the whole way down the fairway in order to hit the ball forward. She laughs when she thinks back to those days.

Slifka will play The Club at Nevillewood on Tuesday, October 5. 32 lady golfers will compete for 12 spots in the PIAA Tournament.
