1. Q: What do you do as the El Camino High School ASB president?
A: Well that's a specific question with a broad answer! ASB is basically the student government here on campus that connects students, staff, and administration together. We serve the student body through activities and events. As president, I'm in charge of coordinating all the commissioners and student at large's in ASB together in order to execute these events. Pep rallies, lunch time activities, fundraisers, etc. The president makes sure the student government functions to the best of its abilities, so that students have "long and lasting memories" here at El Camino.
2. Q: Now that Homecoming has passed, what are some upcoming events that the student body as a whole should be aware about?
A: Our canned food drive will be happening in the weeks to follow as well as the dodge ball tournament. But most importantly, the ASB convention in December! This is where delegates vote for candidates and those candidates that pass through convention go to the general election after winter break! If you want to be in ASB, go to convention or pick up a petition in the weeks to come in C-101!
3. Q: What are some things that go behind the scenes in the ASB classroom that everyday students are unable to witness?
A: ASB runs like a government and a regular class at the same time. Members have a lot of freedom to plan, create and execute ideas, but we are still regular students in the sense that we have to sit and listen to lectures and lessons on leadership. A unique thing about ASB is that there is a lot of open debate, discussion, and collaboration that wouldn't normally happen in other classes.
4. Q: Tell me some personal things about you; hobbies, likes, dislikes.
A: Many people think I have a complicated life, but it's the simple things I appreciate more. I'm a senior, involved in multiple extracurriculars like Drama, ASB, and NHS. I love to travel and speak different languages (I speak Italian, French, Spanish, and English) and I love food! (My friends tell me I'm a great cook). I don't like bacon or seafood. I enjoy writing, cooking, or just having a great time anywhere with my friends!
5. Q: The goal of ASB is to create lasting memories for the student body of El Camino High School. What are some of your lasting memories at this school?
A: There's so many! I've definitely taken advantage of all that high school has had to offer. Joining ASB definitely changed everything for me. Being involved in plays here too, I'll never forget when I fell off my chair in the middle of scene, and everyone was dying from laughter! Taking French here, it has allowed me to travel the world and transcend cultural barriers. But really, just being extremely involved and not being part of any set "group" or "clique". I've always just done what makes me happy, and taking roads less traveled by, has really made all the difference.
