This year, the Cincinnati Reds are off on a bad start. Their record for this year is 8-12 which isn’t a winning record. They are in 4th place right now and still falling. Fans aren’t really going to too many games because of their losing record and there are many true fans and players who are discouraged by that fact. They want to see a winning team but a team that’s losing so much isn’t worth going to games this year.
The Reds have been playing against really good teams like the Chicago Cubs, which are in 1st place, and the St. Louis Cardinals, which are in 2nd place behind the Cubs. The Reds just need to pick it up if they want to try to be a dominating team to go against and make it to the playoffs this year.
For Tuesday, April 22, the Reds are going to try and “Go Green” for Earth Day as they play the Los Angeles Dodgers at Great American Ball Park. The Reds purchased carbon credits to offset the estimated fossil fuel emissions related to game day operations at Great American Ball Park as they team up with Duke Energy.
For Tuesday’s game, the Reds called up infielder Jerry Hairston Jr. to boost up the Reds offense. He was hitting over .400 in Triple A- Louisville with three homers and 15 RBIs. For Tuesday’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, he went 4 for 5 for is debut with the Reds as they won 8-1.
The game against the Dodgers, where they won 8-1, was a huge turn around for the offense. They were hitting the ball, getting on base, and driving ion runs. That’s what they need to keep doing if they want to have a winning record.
On April 22nd, Steve Krivsky got fired as the GM for the Reds and Walt Jocketty was hired as the new GM. He used to the GM for the St. Louis Cardinals as they won the World Series in 2006. It's hard to tell how this change of management is truly affecting the Reds, but Cincinnatians can only hope that it will bring more positive than negative.
Though the Reds are off to a not-so-great-start, it's so early in the season, that it's safe to say that there is time for a comeback.
