What is Swag, really? Swag, in the Urban Dictionary, is an appearance or style that someone presents to the public. The word swag is used in many ways today. If you like how someone talks or dresses you say they have swag. If someone does something to make him or herself more popular, they also have swag. But is this what swag really stands for? Nate Jarvis, a senior at Windsor High School, said “I believe that it is a word conjured up by devils to signify the ignorance of our generation.” He then went on to explain that it’s used so much today “because the mass media convinces kids that it’s a cool thing to say.” Jarvis stated the true definition of swag as “an ornamental festoon of flowers, fruit, and greenery, or a ribbon-tied swag of flowers." When asked if he had swag, he replied that he is not “ an ornamental festoon of flowers, fruit, or greenery, so probably not.” When asked what did have swag, he said it was a “combination of both Soldier Boy and Nick Bradley’s mother, because she makes gift baskets for a living.”
