MySpace is a great network to chat with family and friends and catch up with those who have moved away. While many of us use the site to an advantage, some do not realize what they type or post can do them. As many of you know it is not a great idea to post someone’s personal information on the internet such as a phone number or address. If anyone has an adolescent on their profile you should stress this to them as much as possible. If someone needs to know if your address is the same or so forth, tell them to send it to you in an e-mail. Most people prefer to keep their profile set to private, which is a very smart choice. Another option you have is to allow your photos to be shared or e-mailed, if you don’t like the idea of everyone having your photos I’d advice you to set this action.

If anyone added on your profile is there by accident or you just don’t see eye to eye with them anymore, you can easily block that user by simply going to their profile and clicking on the block user option on their contact table. Some use the choice of setting a requirement of entering their last name or e-mail, in order to send them a friend request. This is perfect for keeping online predators from even thinking about adding you. Another worry about having a MySpace is spam, or phishing. This is where your profile starts sending out comments or e-mails that are just like pop-ups or junk e-mail. If this is already happened to your profile and you don’t know how to stop it, just simply change your MySpace’s password.

Anyone that doesn’t want these comments should exercise the option of CAPTCHA. You may have seen CAPTCHA before while updating your profile. It is a simple code consisting of letters and numbers that you must enter after viewing them above the typing area. This prevents spam and other phishing crocs, because they cannot type. This may be used on any kind of comments, e-mails, and friend requests. Still not liking the idea of using this option, maybe you should set your profile to send you e-mails of all your comments and so forth. This will give you awareness and the option of posting a comment before it is on your profile. This helps with any phishing or anyone who may post something you don’t want the whole online world to see.
