Though lacking money, and
notoriety, local bands still hang
on.
PHS’s current and former
bands consist of Neqriem, I’m
William Cutting, and Kaos
Revived.
I’m William Cutting plays
one or two shows a week, as far
north as Traverse City and as far
south as Indiana.
They have also recorded with
multiple bands.
“You start with nothing. You
gotta work it to make it work,”
said I’m William Cutting’s bassist,
Alex Russel Wilkes ‘11.
Bands have been a long lasting
tradition at this school.
Many may remember the
band, Ginormous and the Wee
Ones. However, the band split as
the members parted ways after
graduating.
Others may recall the
screamo band, Fall of Failsafe.
Russel-Wilkes said that PHS
used to have bands ranging
from punk to country; but, all
of the bandmates graduated,
ending the groups.
“I like metal, punk, anything
but country,” said Dan Carroll
‘13.
“It’s either there is no one
playing music or there aren’t as
many people willing to go to
shows,” said I’m William Cutting
member, Keenan Hileski
‘11.
Neqriem includes Caleb Susman
‘11.
The band formed just under
a year ago and has finally found
a drummer. They have recorded
with the well known band Born
Of Osiris and hope to be playing
shows once they get their new
drummer up to speed.
Kaos Revived consists of
students Dustan Colyer ‘12, Ian
Norlin ‘13, and Aaron Ringo
‘13 and has been together since
February. They played numerous
concerts over the summer
and won last year’s Battle of the
Bands.
Norlin, Kaos’ current singer,
says disagreements about what
is going to be played can make
being in a band stressful.
Battle of the Bands is a
competition held annually in the
schcool’s cafeteria and acts as a
fundraiser for the tennis team.
Battle of the Bands allows
bands with students who attend
PHS to showcase their talents.
Last year Fall of Failsafe, the
band of Doug Montgomery ‘09,
played as an exhibition act during
the competition.
