The Greenwood Christian cheerleaders have an opportunity to cheer lead for football at the new football season this year. The new cheering season is a change for all the cheerleaders. This cheer leading year has many new advantages than they did last year.

This year’s cheerleaders are excited for the new change of cheering in the fall. Captain Samantha Sorrow has a very positive attitude and is thankful for the football season. “ GCS football is a huge step in the right direction for the school, " stated Sorrow.

The cheerleaders participated in a week long cheer leading camp over the summer, and have learned many new things. "We have been learning a lot of new cheers and dances, "Kathryn Kemp said. She thinks that this year will be more successful since they are now allowed to do stunts.

Football cheerleading is definitely a new experience for the school and the squad. “It is more challenging this year because football is obviously a lot different from basketball, and it is hard to figure out what is going on during the game,” Sorrow said.. “This year will be more successful since we’ve learned so much new stuff," Kemp said.

The summer camp has apparently helped the cheerleaders grow closer while learning a lot more stuff. Wideman stated that the captains were great role models, fun, and that it was easy to learn from them. “The Squad all got along like a big family," Wideman said. “The camp helped us all grow closer”, Kemp stated.

Each girl wants to improve something on their own. Savannah Wideman states that she’d like to improve on being sharper, and learning the new cheers better. “I’d like to improve on being sharper and more flexible,” Savannah Reinhardt stated.
