Greenwood Christian School welcomed several new international students on Friday, August 19, 2011.

Six new high school students have joined GCS from countries such as China, Germany, and Serbia.

Dicson Haoduo is one of the new international students who is attending GCS. “I feel this is a good school and classmates are kind and friendly, and teachers are very nice. I can learn a lot from this school,” said Dicson Haoduo, junior. Some of Haoduo’s hobbies include basketball, snowboarding, and music (singing).

Haoduo says one thing that is different in America is that the students have to change classrooms rather than the teacher transitioning.

This was Haoduo’s third time leaving his home, China. Last year, he went to Japan, and he visited Russia during his early childhood. Haoduo said that he misses his family back in China, as well as his pet dog and cat.

In the future, Haoduo said he wants to go to college, get married, and go back to China for a job. He said that, in the future, if he chooses to pursue the business field, he would want to attend Pennsylvania College. However, if he pursues the science field, he would want to join a college in the state of California.

Not only are there new international students, but there are also five second-year international students who are returning to GCS.

Quan Nguyen, a returning international student, advised the new international students to work hard. This is Nguyen’s second year at GCS, and he also decided to join the football team this year.

Nguyen said that he does not think that the second year is easier than the first because he is only one year away from his senior year. His future plans are to “get done with high school, college, and get a job.”

It's so cool to have a variety of students in one school! Hopefully, they will work hard and learn a lot; as well as become very successful in life.
