The college application

season is a very hectic time in the lives of the average American teen.

Senior high school students around the globe are waiting for acceptance letters from numerous colleges of their choice.

One thing that constantly crosses their mind, though, is "How am I going to pay for all this?"

What they may or may not know about is the millions of scholarships that are there for the taking.

There are plenty of sites on the Internet that can send students in the right direction for paying for their entire college education, or if they choose, just part of it.

There are both online resources and scholarship books that students can either buy or get from their guidance counselors.

Online databases with this type of information are much easier to use because the site chooses the scholarships that directly apply to the student.

A student is able to register to a number of sites, answer a few quick questions about their major, school, and interests, and then the site weeds out the scholarships that the students can apply for.

However, these sites are not just giving out money for free. Students have to be determined and motivated to get each scholarship.

Most scholarships involve some form of writing example or a creative work of art.

For example, students are sometimes required to write an essay about why they need the scholarship or about what makes them stand out from other applicants. Scholarship money can range from $1,000 to over $100,000, but no matter the amount, they always require some effort from the student.

A very good site to use that can offer more than scholarships is Fastweb.com, which can also give students other types of resources and internships.

Students can find scholarships on such sites as collegeboard.com, scholar-ships.com, collegenet.com, and scholarshipamerica.org.

Scholarships are a vital way for students to pay their way through college but they are not necessarily just for the college bound. Students can find scholarships specifically designed for students that are already enrolled in college as well.

Senior year is a stressful year, but money should not be the sole determination on whether a school should be crossed off the list.

Scholarships are created for those students who work through high school, who don’t do sports or community service but still don’t have $100,000 to pay for all their college needs.

For a student to be accepted to a major school that also has a major bill and cannot go there because of just that reason is sad and unfair.

For that reason, scholarships are a great way to get deserving students money to pay off a few college bills or maybe even their entire tuition.
