Jonathan Law’s senior football captains are leading the Lawmen onto the field with different aspirations, expectations, and predictions for the upcoming season.
Head coach Mr. Robinson is looking for a strong effort out of each of his five leaders, who are irreplaceable. Senior captains Alex Mihalov, Corey Vienneau, Buddy Bajerski, Chris Ballas, and James Quish hope they can fulfill their coaches expectations.
"The thing I will miss most about this year’s seniors is the ability to know I have their trust without asking for it," said Robinson. "I hope next year’s class will learn from this years and carry on the Law football tradition."
Robinson knew what he was coming into the season with. He knew each captain would bring a little something different to the team which would be critical to the team’s success.
"Ballas brings the intensity and attitude that is necessary for this team to succeed."
One of the teams leading rushers from a year ago, Ballas has high expectations.
"All I want is a team that doesn’t give up," Ballas said. "If we don’t give up we are very capable of a winning record."
Quish will hope to lead the defense to success from his middle linebacker position.
"Quish brings what all the other four captains bring to the team combined," Robinson said. "If you need anything on or off the field, this is the guy you are looking for."
One of the top academic students in the class of 2010, Quish is looking to attend University of California at Berkeley next year.
Playing on both sides of the ball along with special teams, Vienneau looks to be a key piece to the Lawmen’s puzzle.
"This kid brings leadership through his play and work ethic in every aspect of the game", Robinson said."He never takes a down off."
Setting his goals high, Vienneau is hoping to achieve All-State honors at either wide receiver or punter.
One of the most spirited players on the team, Mihalov has several goals for himself and the team .
"I want to help our team get to its first playoff game in school history," Mihalov said.
Next year, he plans to enlist in the Army as an engineer.
Bajerski, looks to bolster down the offensive and defensive lines this year .
"Buddy has that old man type of attitude," Robinson said. "He doesn’t let anything bother him , leads by example."
Bajerski said, "I am looking to be vocal with the underclassmen this year,[and] prepare them for the future."
