The Class of 2012 will be graduating on Saturday, June 9 at 10 a.m. Weather permitting, it will be held outdoors.

If there is inclement weather, graduation will take place in the gymnasium, and students will be given three to four tickets each. For those that cannot sit in the gymnasium, there will be a live broadcast in the auditorium of the ceremony.

The ceremony takes an hour and a half, but time can vary depending on class size as well. This year’s class will include approximately 196 graduates, including adult education students.

The graduation ceremony will begin with senior class president Jennifer Currier giving a welcome address, followed with speeches by Alycia Abbott (valedictorian) and Jonathan Goodnow, who is salutatorian.

Headmaster Mr. Reardon will then address the graduates followed by a presentation of the class gift.

In addition, there will be a performance by the Spartan and Maestro Singers.

Ms. Michaud, graduation committee coordinator, said that the week of graduation is always the most anticipated time of year for seniors.

“The week of graduation is always exciting, especially the baccalaureate,” Mrs. Michaud said. “The committee has already spent so much time in advance planning for that event. It’d be great to have more kids volunteer for the committees and take part in all of the events

Students are also excited as the big day approaches. Senior Kristen Seaman, who is attending the University at Albany in New York in the fall for forensic psychology, said that graduation is a mix of excitement and fear.

“I’m extremely excited, beyond words, to start a new chapter in life,” she said. “There is just so much that is going to be different. It is way too much to even fathom.”

In addition, many underclassmen are anticipating graduation with mixed emotions.

“I will definitely miss the seniors,” said freshman Lindsey Hammar. “I know most of them through singing and they are all truly amazing. Personally, I will never forget the Class of 2012.”
