At-a-glance

I entered Grand Prairie High School with the thought that my life would be over from now on. In my mind GP had nothing to offer me. My close friends went to South and I felt alone. Now that I reflect back, I no longer regret going to this school. I made so many friends over the past four years and plenty of memories.

Graduation day is something I had been looking forward to every since I stepped in the 9th Grade Center. I always wanted to be far away from school. I hated waking up early, sitting in classrooms, and listening to teachers lecture me on how “I’m going to miss this” and how “Once you’re in the real world you were going to wish you were back in high school”. I never once thought that I would actually think those things to myself in my last few days of high school.

This week is my last week of high school, my last final exams, and my last few days of a high school senior. It never sank in before now but I realize I am going to miss this place. I will never forget sitting in Turner Gym at pep rally’s as a sophomore and being anxious for the day I became a senior and got to rip up the big ‘BEAT SOUTH’ poster. Also, playing volleyball with my volleyball family was something I will truly miss. I only regret not playing this year. No more football games with my class and singing the alma mater. This school definitely holds fond memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Senior year started off shaky, I was scared that I wasn’t going to have fun or enjoy the events. Prom made up for everything! Seeing all my friends dressed so elegantly and dancing made me realize just how fun the senior class of 2012 really was. Not to mention all the fun stuff hasn’t even happened yet! Within the next two weeks I will have attended senior walk, senior picnic, and senior celebration. I will gladly cherish these final chances to make memories and jump at the opportunity to do so. My close friends and I will keep in touch but as for my underclassmen friends, teachers, and principals that I worked for in the main office, I will miss them all too much.

Grand Prairie High may not be everyone’s school of choice but as for me, I am thankful that I get to walk the stage and be a graduate from this awesome school!
