On May 23 the cars of the S&S High school students were tagged (labeled with) the acronym YOLO. The acronym YOLO stands for “You Only Live Once”. One Driving student, Skyler Terflinger’s vehicle was tagged worse than the others. Skyler’s care had YOLO on its front windshield, back windshield, sunroof, and all side windows.

In recent months YOLO has gained traction with youth in America as a symbol of not wasting any chances to do something you won’t get to do again. YOLO also has a negative connotation in several groups on the internet. YOLO is often used as an excuse for youth to do irresponsible activities. These groups have used YOLO as an acronym for phrases like “You Obviously Lack Originality” to show their disapproval of the cut-loose philosophy that YOLO promotes.

The continuing rise in the popularity of YOLO has lead to its appearance on clothing and other merchandise leaving some people worried, like Jordan Dyke (senior) how said ”YOLO defiantly promotes making the “Fun” decision over the right one, and can lead to long term consequences.”, that making irresponsible chooses will become the popular choice.
