DENIM: Wearing skinny jeans was all the rage. -

What were the hottest trends of 2006? iPods, skinny jeans, MySpace, sex, band shows, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s music were some of the biggest 2006 trends and some of them still are. So which trends are still with us and which trends are not?
One obsession took us from Live Journal to Myspace.
“Everyone got a MySpace and now people don’t care about it as much, even if you have the occasional MySpace obsessors,” Kelby Katz, sophomore, said.
I myself have a MySpace obsession and I am semi proud of it. Everyone knows they have a deep obsession with MySpace so it’d be pretty silly deny it. The recent fad of MySpace among teens is starting to become unhealthy for social skills.
Well what about the non-conformists?
“I don’t think we should have a trend. Everyone should find themselves and think of their own style. Before everyone would ask me why I wore skinny jeans and now those same people wear them. I find this to be really stupid,” Ivi Galindo, junior, said.
I’ve been seeing a few people wear skinny jeans for a long time, and have also seen them get made fun of because their pants were too tight for their own good. Then all of a sudden everyone got into wearing skinny jeans and made it look like they always liked them and have been wearing them for centuries.
Another huge obsession is sex. Sex of course has always been one of a teen’s obsessions, but has there been a drastic change this year?
“Although sexual activites have been popular throughout the ages with teens and young adults, there has been a drastic spike, especially in the media, with the Pussycat Dolls loosening up their buttons and Justin Timberlake bringing sexy back,” Taliaa Breman, junior, said.
The media has been completely been at fault with young adults experimenting with everything from sex to drugs. All you hear in the latest music is “I want to do this to you,” and “I like it that way”.
Some of the coolest electronics were Sidekicks and iPod’s.
“The sidekick was the coolest invention ever this year. The Sidekick has a computer and a phone together, ipods were also the coolest,” Albert Delgado, junior, said.
I love my ipod.
And sports?
“I remember when everybody used to be like “oh my god did you see the football game,” and they would talk about it for days until the next football game,” Martin Llobell, sophomore, said.
So how are sports doing now?
“But now people don’t really give a darn about sports just because football is over.” Llobell, said.
