Receiving an award is always a pleasure, but seeing dozens of your classmates succeed together is absolutely amazing.

At the Annual Awards Ceremony on April 17, 2007, dozens of well dressed Gables students graced the stage of the Country Club ballroom at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables to receive their awards. The banquet was a treat, starting with legacy awards, moving into recognitions by class, then departments, and finally academic awards. 144 awards where given.

Most were thrilled with their achievements.

“It was really lovely being able to see all of my friends getting awards. I was excited for mine too,” Isabela Ferrier, junior recipient of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) History award and the Williams College Book Award, said.

Each girl was dressed professionally and beautifully. Every boy looked sharp and neat. Being able to marvel at a group of children headed for the top is a nice surprise after dealing with the usual stereotypes of disobedient and rebellious teens.

As Ms. Sylvia Cuesta said to conclude her introduction of the Silver Knight nominees, “These are the people we’ll all be working for soon”.
