In today’s society, the majority of people’s frown upon people with tattoos . They usually think tattoos are disgusting and for the uneducated population, even scum. But what today’s society doesn’t realize is that tattoos are actually just another form of art. You’re pretty much using your body as an open canvas waiting to be used to express creativity as body art.
“I wouldn’t have so many if I thought they were stupid. I got certain tattoos for certain reasons. For example, I have one that says TCB, which means taking care of business. I got it along with my other band members on tour actually; it was free,” Gino Vento said.
People should most definitely look past the stereotype tattoos are associated with and start looking at tattoos in a more optimistic perspective. Most places of employment require that their employee’s tattoos be covered. Tattoos don’t always have to be the cool thing. They can also have some sentimental value behind them.
“My first tattoo is a straight edge tattoo, meaning a commitment made to myself of not doing drugs, not drinking, smoking or having promiscuous sex,” Vento, said.
You might not even feel pain in certain areas. In fact, just to state the obvious, we are humans we experience pain quite often. Therefore, we are able to tolerate pain in certain areas. Please do not misunderstand me and travel to the closet tattoo parlor demanding an enormous tattoo across your ribs without considering the pain it will bring you.
“Generally they don’t hurt, for example, the one I have on my lip and behind my ear. But I must admit, there are some parts that do hurt,” Vento, said.
You should be very cautious of where you’re getting your tattoo done. Getting a tattoo requires the use of a needle. If the needle has been used before and has not undergone proper sterilization, it can carry AIDS, and you take the risk of becoming infected. So please, make sure any needle stuck in your skin is completely new and sterile.
However, people are left with society’s rules imprinted in their minds that tattoos are not part of the norm.
“If that’s what they want, then that’s cool,” Albert Delgado, junior, said.
If people want to completely cover their bodies in tattoos, and then by all means, go for it. Keep in mind; nothing, especially societal restrictions should deprive you from expanding your mind and creativity.
