Natalie Larin attends all her classes, takes a couple of AP courses, plays sports, and leads an active social life. But what sets her apart is the fact that she manages to excel both academically and athletically.

This year Larin has been chosen to be the captain of the Lady Judges lacrosse team and President of the girls lacrosse club. She helps teach over 30 girls the basic skills and concepts of lacrosse every Tuesday and Thursday. This might seem easy, but lacrosse is a complicated sport with many rules and techniques to it.

Larin’s leadership stems from her patience and passion for the sport. She dedicates so much to her team and teaches them just about everything she knows, preparing them physically so they’re fit to try out and play for the team. "She encourages everyone on the club to get as serious as she is about the sport, and she also shows great passion and dedication," said Junior Angela Salerno, a lacrosse club member.

It’s no surprise Natalie has been chosen as captain for this year. She has been playing lacrosse for the Cardozo Judges for four years and has excelled as a top player However there where some setbacks when former coach Mr. George Baron passed away. Despite the setbacks Larin was still able to excel on the field.

She plays center, which is basically the "work horse" of the game. She brings the ball down the field, plays defense and sets up the plays. Even though her position is more about defense, she had 15 goals in 12 games, which is a lot higher then most of the attack players on the team. She was also selected to play in Empire State Games last summer, which was a big honor. Around 60 girls from all over NYC try out and only 20 make the cut as they represent NYC at Binghamton University.

Academically, Larin also excels. With four years of strong grades, she will be attending Barnard College of Columbia University on a four year scholarship in the fall, and playing Division One Lacrosse.
