On Saturday June 12, 2010 the Upward Bound students and staff went on a walk through the National Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial. Tears were shed and students learned about something that changed Oklahoma history forever. When walking though the memorial, is was both an emotional time, as well as a moveable experience seeing the many things they have there that honors those who died on that tragic day of April 19, 1995. Outside there are 4 long rows of chairs representing the people who died there, and two towers on each side that tell the time the bomb exploded and the time the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building stopped falling. After this heart felt trip, students really gained a perspective and sympathy for something that was so dear to our own small state of Oklahoma.

This was life changing for me. I'm glad that I didn't go home the weekend that we went, because it was truly amazing. I'm not going to lie, I did cry. I read a letter that a little boy had wrote to his mother that had passed away in the bombing. It was so sad.

This was a life changing experience. If you haven't visited the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial then you are missing out! It's really amazing.
