Back to  school.” This phrase means different things to different people. Students who have not spent previous years at Lakeside may feel nervous and overwhelmed, especially during the first few days at a new school. Other new students are excited for a change.

Freshman Megan Moll said “Lakeside has a much bigger student population than my grade school did. I’m looking forward to playing sports in high school.”

Teachers get ready to share their knowledge with a new group of students during the 2011-2012 school year. Some, like Mr. Grasby, find the enthusiasm of a new student contagious.

“I’m looking forward to this school year because it seems like more students and faculty members than ever before are more fired up about school,” He said.

Returning to school for another year of education doesn’t mean it’s going to be all classes and homework.

Sophomore Jordan Gaal said he’s looking forward to homecoming.

Homecoming week is earlier this year than in previous years; the week of September 19-23. This week is just one of the opportunities Lakeside students have to take a break from regular school work and show their school spirit.

     Junior Jaclyn Turney said

“I’m looking forward to having a great time with friends at dances, football games, and basketball games. Now that I’m an upperclassman I plan on showing the underclassmen how we show school spirit at Lakeside.”

Another school year at Lakeside is about school spirit, having fun and getting involved in extracurricular activities, but most importantly it is about doing everything to the glory of God.

As stated by Mr. Hahn, “This year’s senior class has the potential to set a good tone for this school year. The faculty at Lakeside has very high expectations of the senior class, that they let their light shine for Christ in all that they do.”
