Star Wars, Comics, Cartoons and KISS. These are the key ingredients that make up Parker senior artist Ryan Bushaw.

Bushaw has been in art classes every year since he started at Parker. His class list includes Art 1, photography, metals, drawing, ceramics, advance studio 3-D and AP portfolio 3-D. Out of all the art classes he has been in he says his favorites were metals and ceramics but if he had to choose, he would take metals. “Metal is permanent, unless someone trys to destroy it, it keeps almost forever.” said Bushaw.

Throughout his career as an artist Bushaw has created 15 metal rings, 2 metal necklaces, many non-functional pieces of pottery and many many drawings. His art is always in the display cases lining the art hallway and during school art shows he receives his own section to display his work. He has also won many awards for his work in the Parker art show. During freshman year he took third place in jewelry and during his junior year he took second place in jewelry, honorable mention in pottery and one person show and student choice in metals.

When Bushaw is not dabbling in the arts he is working at his job at Applebees were he is a server. He is also on the Parker Bowling Team. Bushaw loves music, movies, spending time with friends and playing his guitar. His favorite band is KISS and his favorite movie is the Star Wars series. One thing is for sure, if there is Star Wars premiere or another KISS farewell tour, you can be sure he will be out of the art room and in line for a ticket.

The future of this budding artist is currently undecided but he does hope to one day attend the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design or MIAD for short. But if that doesn’t work he would attend UW Whitewater or University of Rock County.

One thing is certain about this artists work, you should start admiring it now while it is in the hallways because if you don’t then the next time you see it, it will be in an art gallery.

Advice: “Never think you’re done because there is always something else you can do.”
