Nannenga's New Piano - Billy Sosa
Advertising

On January 4th, CAL’s music department purchased a new piano, that will be used by Ms. Elizabeth Nannenga’s choir classes, as well as future concerts and performances.

Due to unfavorable conditions and issues with the three pianos already owned, the music department requested the school board/music boosters give approval and funds to purchase a new piano. Two of the older pianos will remain in the auditorium and in the band room, but unfortunately, one of the three will be disposed of properly, due to the fact it can no longer play properly and repairs are not practical.

The new piano can continue to do what the previous acoustic pianos did, but also include new features.

“The main reason being its ability to record and playback parts and accompaniments,” said Nannenga.

Principal Robert Meier will have the privilege to add programs, create programs and install them to the new piano to fit the needs of K-12 music groups.

The piano will have the ability to record vocal and instrumental parts and play them back. The recordings can then be transferred to audio files and will be available for all choir students who are all expected to practice performances on their own individual time.

Students will also be able to have classes in the event that Nannenga is unable to conduct regular classes, for inconvenient scenario. Thus the choir will have the ability to practice to the fullest and perfect pieces.

“A huge THANK YOU goes out to our school board members, the music boosters, and to the family of Phyllis Nelson for their gracious memorial donation,” added Nannenga.
