Tattoo artist Kat Von D. - heckyeahkatvond

You've heard your grandmother say it time and time again " In my day, we'd never be seen with those ridiculous large holes in our ears", or " Why do you young folks consider getting those 'stickers' all over your bodies?" Well granny, I hate to tell you, but body modification is something that has been sweeping the nation, and everyone's talking about it now. There has been many articles all over this site about everything from scarification to tattoos and stretched ears, today's possibilities are endless.

Frankly, you can't turn on the stinkin' television without seeing tattoos being advertised like cigarettes! For me, it all started in 2005 where Miami Ink was advertised ; it starred tattoo artist Ami James and featured celebrity tattoo artist Kat Von D. The purpose was to give meaningful ink with back stories of people who have lost someone near and dear, special occasions, or just for the hell of it. The show aired for six seasons ; ending in 2008. Then voila, L.A Ink ; starring Kat Von D who basically picked up where Miami Ink ended. Since her show first airing in 2007 ; she has become quite the household name. Now it's " Best Ink", where contestants compete to become " America's next best tattoo artist."

So you see, we Americans are definitely not shy of the ink slinger. Tattoos surely aren't the first body modifications to be shown off as the latest trend Per SE. Back in 2010, reality star of "The Hills" Heidi Montag got a new set of accessories if you know what I mean. A week later she claimed that she regretted having her breasts done. Heidi who was once at a c- cup upgraded to a G-sized bra ; oh man how she regretted it and enough to have them taken out about nine months later. She is the pioneer of breast history, well except of course Ms. Dolly Parton.

Stretched ears used to be for cultural reasons, but now ; every Tom, Dick, and Harry is seen sporting large holes in their ears " stretched ears" or "gauged ears". Of course there's always those couple of people who ask why others would do these things to their ears, to answer: I don't know why, we just do. You'll commonly find the ears to be plugged hence the jewelry name are "plugs", like a drain. Some people like to rock tunnels which you can see through which freaks a lot of people out and causes them to shudder and flee. So many jobs may reject these so certain people have started to take them out or "size down" to a smaller size due to that reason. Most will do whatever it takes to keep them; seeing "gauging" isn't a cheap process. Sorry, granny.

Whomever wrote this did a fine job, but I would like to tell the author of this something about the strected ears. Most people don't like streched people because they look gross, in my opinion it's fine if someone wears it that way or not. Anyways, even though stretched ears is a sporty and most people try it today, it can strect the bottom of the ear permentaly, so if someone with that took out the strecter (the jewel or instrument that someones puts in the ear to stretch it) there would be a lasting hole if not surgically fixed. And if that happens and you want it fix theres only two options: either cut off the bottom of the ear where the hole is, or get it fixed by a docter with threads (or stitches) and needles. That's all I have at the time being, and all I wanted to say. So thank you. Yours Sincerly, Shawn M.
