Senior Jeff Dzugan has ventured into unknown territory for most CHS students. He recently received a perfect 36 on his ACT and was named an AP scholar for passing three AP tests last year as a junior. The Paw’s Print spent some time with him recently to discuss his academic achievements and future plans.

Q: Did you have any study prep?

A: Well, I’ve been doing Academic Team for all four years of high school, plus Science Olympiad. Academic Team has a ton of timed tests with really difficult problems, so I was used to it.

Q: How many times have you taken the ACT now?

A: This makes the second time.

Q: When did you last take the test?

A: Actually, I remember perfectly because it was on Sept. 11.

Q: Where had you planned on going to college before the 36 score?

A: Samford University

Q: Are you still planning to go to Samford?

A: Yes, my brother and sister both go there, and I’ve visited a lot. I really like it. I was planning on going there and I’m not changing my mind.

Q: What do you like so much about it?

A: It is a Christian university and it’s just a great college. My parents like it; they found it for my sister, if it’s good enough for them, then its good enough for me.

Q: What was your reaction to getting your ACT score?

A: I was pleasantly surprised.

Q: What was it like getting 5’s on all your AP exams from last year?

A: I had hoped to get fives, and that’s what I worked for. I’m really glad it paid off.

Q: Is there a bad side to getting a 36 on your ACT?

A: When your name becomes 36, it gets a little annoying.
