It's the one day out of the entire year that students literally get to do nothing productive.
In the past Field Day has been a reward for those who reach good faith effort standards while testing. However, his year it seems the rules have changed, as there are no requirements to be eligible to participate in Field Day.
Field Day coordinator Joy Miller said "everyone gets to go this year, good faith effort isn't a factor, but I might call students out to finish their ILP if they haven't already completed it."
Attendance isn't the only thing changed about Field Day. Not only did everyone get to go but Field Day was also completely inside this year.
"Since Field Day isn't outside this year activities are limited; we had to get creative," said Mrs. Miller.
A lot of the activities stayed the same such as basketball, volleyball, minute to win it, and tug of war.
There were also new "creative" activities like a watermelon seed spitting contest, X-Box tournaments, and a scavenger hunt.
Many consider Field Day a waste of time and would prefer to cut it out all together. Students are also starting to lose interest and many are starting to take the opportunity to skip another day of school.
"I feel like Field Day is more of a day to relax. For me, it's the end of the year so it's kind of a breather from everything beforehand. Sometimes it's hard to sign up for things due to availability of the event and actually getting people together for team events," said junior Dakota Gallimore.
Either way, it's a free day to relax whether you participate in the activities or not. Everyone should just take Field Day for what it's worth.
Junior Mallory Wood said "I really liked Field Day this year, I enjoyed all of the different activities that were available this year."
