The Indianola boys cross country team continued their tradition of domination at state competition on Saturday, Oct. 30, in Fort Dodge.
"I think we did excellent this season," says junior captain Tyler Krpan of the regular season. "We never finished worse than third at any race."
Krpan led the Indians at state with a strong 26th-place finish, finishing ahead of sophomores Jordan Schulze (44th), Jacob Howard (50th), Blake Dowson (75th), Andy Arndt (81st), Tyler Nicholson (90th), and junior Camren Ripperger (100th). The Indians ran to an impressive 11th-place finish in the 4A state competition.
Having a large amount of talented underclassmen on the team will help out the Indians in coming years as they will return all seven varsity runners next year along with a strong underclassman junior varsity team.
"Experience is definitely nice, but the guys really got after it with or without a lot of seniors," says Krpan of the varsity runners.
