At-a-glance

By the time summer ends and autumn arrives bees and wasps disappear. Why? They take shelter for the winter. However, now spring has come, gracing us with annoying bugs. Hauntingly pesky bees are back to pollinate and wasps are back just to annoy us. Mostly we notice these bugs during the summer when we are out the most, increasing the risk of being painfully stung.
Over my own last summer vacation, I stepped on two bees and couldn’t walk for two weeks. My affected foot was as swollen as a balloon, practically making the arch in my foot disappear. Learn from my mistake and always wear shoes to avoid being stung by bees in the summer. Unless of course you are at the pool or at the beach. In spite of everyone's desire to enjoy the summer and walk barefoot over vividly green grass, this is where bees lurk because grass is covered with clover flowers.  This happens to be the flower that bees are most attracted to. To avoid being stung by a bee anywhere else, follow these simple tricks:

  1. Do not bother them. Bees have really bitter tempers and will sting you instantly.
  2. Do not swat them away because it will only make them even more upset.
  3. Walk slowly away from bees. Fast movements make them scared and in defense they will sting you. Always remember, bees are more afraid of you then you are of them.
  4. Do not leave sugary foods outside. It attracts them because bees pollinate sugary things. Sugary foods will not only attract bees, but also annoying ants. If you are having a pool party or a get-together and want sugary food outside, be sure to get netted food covers.
  5. If bees are around you or following you slowly go inside of the nearest cooled room in your home. Bees do not like cold areas.
