The annual Christmas tree sales were back at San Juan Hills for another great year of selling. Last year the San Juan Hills Booster Club sold over 700 Christmas trees. This year, students sold 722, raising the school’s athletic department a substantial amount of money. Sales began October 12th, and each student had to turn in their orders by November 16th.
There were two types of trees you could choose from, Douglas Fir and Noble Fir. Sizes varied from five to ten feet also, prices for the trees ranged from $50 to $120. The trees are freshly grown and cut, delivered from Oregon. The program raises money for San Juan’s sports teams, in order to buy uniforms, equipment, and other necessary gear.
Customers can also donate a tree to the Camp Pendleton Battalion/11th Marine Family for the holidays. Last year, many trees were donated to the marines, to have their own freshly cut Christmas tree to enjoy their holidays, in order to make them feel more at home.
The sale also included our San Juan Stallions ornaments available for purchase at the price of $10.
Every member of a sports team was suggested to sell at least two Christmas trees, although, many members sold more. After the trees were delivered, customers who purchased trees came down to the San Juan Hills High School parking lot on December 3rd for a first come first serve basis.
The baseball team attended to help distribute some of the Christmas trees, followed by other sports athletes.
“I only sold two Christmas trees, which wasn’t a lot,” said Varsity baseball player, Evanne Wilkes. “ But I had fun being with my team and handing out the trees with everyone.”
In the end, Scott Crowe, who plays for Varsity football won the sale with selling the most trees, followed by many other athletes who made a lot of sales. The count of how many trees Scott sold is still unknown. We ended up raising approx. $30,000 for our San Juan Hills Booster Club.
“Overall we did an amazing job selling Christmas trees this year and we raised a lot of money for our San Juan Hills Booster Club” said Coach Cat.
