What does it mean to be a Spartan? A Spartan wakes up most Monday through Fridays and arrives at Olympus Junior High School, from 8:30 to 3:00 on Tuesday through Friday, and 8:30 to 2:00 on Mondays. A Spartan has seven periods: one elective, science class, English, social studies, math, and PE.
However, does it mean more? The Spartans we look up to are courageous, not afraid to speak out, rebellious, and responsible. While most of us don’t quite fit the picture perfect Spartan, we still get good test scores and read lots of books and all that school stuff. Being a Spartan also means you get fired up to compete against Eich, or Cooley, and especially Cavitt.
To me, being a Spartan means having lockers. They’re very useful to have and most middle schools don’t have them. They take a nice load off your back, and save a lot of room. It also mean having good school cookies. They’re not the best, but they sure are good to have around when you get hungry. The lunches are delicious, the chicken sandwich and spicy chicken sandwich tastes like they’re straight from a delicious restaurant. I really hate Power Ades though, they taste gross. It means being proud and smart to me, but what does it mean to others?
It means wearing a hat every day to some, to some it’s just something to complain about. But when you look closely, we have it pretty nice over here at Olympus, even if they don’t sell soda and candy like Cooley. (Even if I really want them to.) We have an iPad 2 cart, which is pretty cool. Our computer lab isn’t too shabby either, if you know what I mean. We have electric desks in science, and spend some periods looking through microscopes. Some, or should I say most, schools, don’t have these things, so we Olympus Spartans are grateful.
As you can see, everyone has their own opinion about what it means to be a Spartan, but it’s hard to argue with this: it sure isn’t a bad thing.
