Dark Shadows: Movie Review
The beginning of this movie takes place in 1752 when Barnabas Collins breaks the heart of a witch and she dooms to being a vampire for the rest of eternity. Two centuries later he rises from his grave and finds himself in 1972. He returns to his home, Collinwood Manor to find it in ruins and to also find whats left of the Collins family with all their own problems as well. As Barnabas tries to get used to the new century he has many different challenges along the way.
In the year 1752 Joshua and Naomi Collins set sail to America with their young son Barnabas Collins in hope for a better life. The Collins settle in Maine where they build a fishing empire, within two decades Barnabas is rich and powerful. But when he makes a mistake of breaking a witches heart she gives him a fate worse than death, turning him into a vampire and then burying him alive. Two centuries later Barnabas arises from his grave and find himself in 1972. After he wakes up he returns to his home in Collinwood Manor, but when he gets there he only finds his mansion in ruins and whats left of the Collins family having troubles of their own. The only family member Barnabas trusts with his secret is Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, a family matriarch. Although everybody else is suspicious they would never guess that Barnabas could be a vampire. As he sets out to restore his family to its original glory, there is one thing that stands in his way, the Collinsport,s leading denizen who goes by the name Angie who thinks he has a remarkable resemblance to their ancestor Barnabas Collins who is out to prove this. Although he has restored his family’s greatness they have found out his secret.
I would recommend this movie to just about anybody. This movie could have used a little bit more action to go along with its hilarious comedy, but other than this it was a great movie. But this is a movie I would see in theaters before you buy it on DVD because you either like it or you don’t.
