Teaching. Helping. Learning.
This is what Sharon Jay does working with students that need Exceptional Student Services also known as ESS students.
“My favorite thing about teaching is when my students are learning and retaining the information that I give them,” Jay said.
Jay had been a volley ball coach and a teacher for Dolores. After teaching in Dolores she decided to teach at the Cortez Middle until she was transferred to M-CHS to fill a position in our ESS program.
“It’s very awarding to see them (students) accomplish there goal,” Jay said.
While Jay was attending A Southern Utah College she wanted to become a nurse but while she was a sophomore in college she started tutoring other classmates and decided that she wanted to become a teacher.
“My favorite thing about being a teacher is when the kids learn and retain the information,” jay said.
Jay’s hobbies out side of school consist of scrapbooking, playing volleyball and basketball, and helping her husband with his art carving. She also has two kids who make up her life.
Jay has set personal goals for the future besides accomplishing helping the student in
passing there classes and or needs.
“I want to become coach for volleyball,” Jay said.
