At-a-glance

Powerlunch is a lunch that is put together for the high school students. It is held every Wednesday during the school year. Each week a different church in our community hosts the lunch.  The students in our school go to Powerlunch for two reasons, either the free food or the message. Some of the students, however, go for both of the reasons.
At Powerlunch the message is very short, maybe five minutes or a little more. After that, attendees mostly just eat and pray. Some students go to every single Powerlunch.
We asked a few people some questions about their reason for going to Powerlunch. Senior Chuck Stewart stated, “I go to Powerlunch because there is good food and the environment is one that I like.” She also says, “When I go I learn more of a variety of opinions giving you options.”
Some students only go to Powerlunch for the free food, and they don’t even lpay attention.  They see it as a time to get together with their friends and enjoy a free meal. “It’s not a bad thing to do, but the people who are putting this on deserve the respect they deserve,” says Krista Wynes, Sophomore.
Students can get a lot out of Powerlunch, but whether they or not they do is their own choice.
