It seems like everyone has an armful of Silly Bandz. -

Students have probably seen friends or family wearing these colorful rubber bands. Some people are wondering what are Silly Bandz and why are they so popular?
Business owner Robert Croak marketed the Silly Bandz. The bands were originally made by a Japanese design team that wanted to produce a more environmentally safe rubber band. According to Wikipedia, Robert Croak saw the bands on a business trip and thought if he could make them bigger and thicker they could be used as a kids’ fashion accessory.
Silly Bandz can have many uses as hair-ties, bracelets, anklets, and regular rubber bands. They come in all different shapes, colors, and themes. As people can see these shaped bands are huge successes.
There is still one question, why are they such a hit? Some students were asked why they enjoy Silly Bandz.
“They are cool because they are shaped into different things,” said Lydia Roniger.
“I like Silly Bandz because they are colorful and fun to trade,” said Julia Richardson.
"I love Silly Bandz,” said Gabby Phillips. “They are fun to play with.”
The bands are such a distraction in class that teachers are starting to say “no” to bringing them to school.
“I personally love Silly Bandz,” said Columbus Elementary secretary Erin Richardson, “but they are a big distraction in class. The children like to trade them and when a student loses a Silly Band and has seen the same one on someone else they will start to fight over it."
Liberty students should either keep their Silly Bandz at home or use them properly.
