“First place goes to Edwardsville Liberty!”
The cheerleaders were excited about their win in state competition, so we interviewed Kaitlyn Kent to get the inside scoop of what happened in Peoria recently.
Q: What went through your mind right before you went on stage to perform your cheer?
A: The entire team was jumping up and down. We were all excited to go on and perform.
Q: What did it feel like when you were on stage performing the cheer?
A: I just kept thinking to myself, “Smile and have fun.”
Q: How did you guys think you did whenever you got off stage?
A: We were all really happy. Plus, no one fell.
Q: When they were announcing winners, how did you feel?
A: We were confident in ourselves.
Q: About how many other teams were there at the competition?
A: 75
Q: What was your reaction to winning first place?
A: We were so excited, even speechless.
Q: Can you briefly tell us what the day of the competition was like?
A: First we got our hair uncurled, we ate, stretched, warmed up our game cheer, performed, then, we watched the other teams, awards (we won first place!), ate lunch, warmed up another routine, awards, and then went home.
