Changes in next season’s Colts
draft have affected the spirit of Indianapolis this spring. With the loss of Peyton Manning, the famous
and much loved quarterback, and other players like Jeff Saturday, Dallas Clark,
and Ryan Diem, Indianapolis is a bit down in the dumps about how next year will
turn out with many new players.
Peyton Manning might be the most
painful lose for Indianapolis this year.
With fourteen years playing for the Colts, fans have become, to say the
least, very attached. The four time
award winning MVP player led the Colts eleven times to the playoffs and two
trips to the Super Bowl with one scoring a win.
Manning will be heading to the Denver Broncos
next season, where many are expecting he will give Denver a good season.
“Manning is going to give Denver
a run for their money,” said Jordyn Kinsler, Herron High School freshman.
Moving Manning to the Broncos
means the Colts need to find a new quarterback, and good thing they had first
choice for next seasons draft because of their 2-14 record last season. The top choices for a quarterback was Andrew Luck, the top sought after college prospect and first overall pick.
“Next season for the Colts I
think will depend on who the quarterback is,” said Aaron Huey, Herron High
School freshman.
Players like Jeff Saturday,
Dallas Clack, and Ryan Diem have been taken off the Colts team for next season,
along with Manning. Whether Indianapolis
likes it or not, the Colts might look like a whole new team next season.
“The team is now in a rebuilding
stage, and I think it is time to clear the house without Manning,” said Elijah
Helton, Herron High School junior “I think it was a smart idea to get rid of so
many players due to the fact that the players only worked in the Manning
system.”
Next season for the Colts is
still a bunch of what ifs. One thing is
clear about what’s happening currently in the Colts world: Indianapolis is
mourning.
“I think Indianapolis is getting
mad with what’s happening in the Colts world because Manning is the star player
and we lost him,” said Kinsler.
The Colts are worrying about
getting new players for next season, but should they also be worry about losing
fans, too?
“I am a Colts fan no matter who’s
on the field,” said Helton. “I am a Manning fan, but a Colts fan first.”
Indianapolis might be
disappointed and sad for their many loses in the Colts world, but always
remember there is next season to have hope for their, much beloved, Colts.
