The sound of music filled the auditorium on Tuesday, May 17, as the band began to warm up for what would be their final concert of the year. The band was conducted by director Patricia Quigley, Michael Capps, and Mark Sweeney.

Ms. Quigley had a proud smile on her face as she read off the names of the senior band students. She had a few parting words for them before they left: “Don’t forget us at Cedar Ridge, and keep in touch. Let us know how you’re doing in college.”

For the seniors, this was their last performance as a part of the Cedar Ridge band. Nick Atz, Drew Davenport, Mason Dunlap, Savannah Gerlach, DeShane Green, Nathan Hanley, Margaret Haskell, Jonathan Hoff, Hannah Johnson, Stephen Kuzminski, Ben Micol, PJ Solon, Nathan Toptine, Stephanie Weeks, Jensen Willingham, and Bryce Yeboah all stood together on stage as they were recognized for their participation in the Cedar Ridge band.

But for some seniors, that won’t be the end. Atz, Green, Hoff, Johnson, Toptine, and Weeks are a few of the seniors who will continue to pursue their love of music in college band programs.

Some of the seniors shared how they felt about their senior year in band. “I’m excited and happy it’s over but I’m going to miss it,” Toptine said. “It felt good hearing [Ms. Quigley] call out the names. It was exciting.”

The seniors will hear the band perform for them on their graduation day, a final song to go with their departure.
