Morton started Operation Prom Night last year. It
shows teenagers who are attending prom what can happen if there is drinking and
driving.
"Anne Bleicher started Operation Prom Night at
Resurrection High School in 1999," Dean Mrs.Ebsen said.
One speaker was a woman whose face was disfigured
after being hit by a drunk driver.
"When I was a freshman I was involved in an
accident where there was a drunk driver that thought he was okay to drive, he
crashed into my father and I. I was hospitalized for several days, and had
multiple operations because of my injuries," Marty, Operation Prom Night
spokesperson, said.
Having actual students participate in the presentation
makes it more realistic to fellow classmates.
"Seeing the presentation was very eye-opening; the
way the students were screaming and crying made me feel like I was part of
it," senior Bridgette Ramos said.
The presetnation uses real cars, ambulances, police
and firefighters.
"During prom season, up to 600 deaths that occur
because of drunk drivers," speaker Marty said.
If someone is drinking, take their car keys away if
you can. If not, refuse to get in the car.
